✨ Embracing the Hush: Winter Crafts, New Year Fun & January Prep ❄️

The Hush

Betwixment

I adore this time between Christmas and New Year. Even more so now that my family are growing up. My husband works between Christmas and New Year, but it means that he doesn't have to work weekends in January (he is an accountant and that is tax season here in the UK). This year, both of my boys are off work between Christmas and New Year, and I am really looking forward to spending some time with them without any expectations. Honestly, there were parts of 2025 where I didn't think I would get to see 2026 - growing older really is a privilege.

I will be taking things slow - reading, catching up on some, crafting and creating for myself and not for work reasons and connecting with friends. It marks the start of what I call my winter hibernation. Where I read more and do more hand stitching. I used to say I wasn't a winter person, but I have changed my habits and learned to embrace the season (more on that below

This Newsletter is a brief one, featuring some New Year activities and other updates. There will be a big Happy New Year one on the eve of 2026.

So I hope you have a good time between Christmas and New Year, and that you enjoy the "hush" and manage to recharge your batteries

Embrace Winter

Small changes that have made a big difference to my winter mindset.

New Year's Craft

I love how excited kids get about New Year’s Eve, and they really want to be part of the celebration. They try so hard to stay up until Midnight, but never make it! We used to have an early New Year’s Eve Celebration so that they could feel part of the fun.

New Year Printables

Let's celebrate 2026 with some fab free printables

New Year Activities

Toilet Poll Poppers

We filled our poppers with metallic confetti, but if you want to make less mess then you can use small pompoms, tissue paper balls, or if you want to add some sparkles, then you could add glitter! The fact is you can never have too much confetti and these are for a new years party.

Wish Crackers

Instead of jokes, these crackers each contain a wish we would like to come true in the coming year.

We also filled them with festive confetti and of course a paper hat

This is a great activity to go with our family New Year resolutions.

New Year Baking Fun

We have winter wonderland cake pops, melting snowmen, popcorn snowballs and failsafe fairy cakes - all perfect for a new year

Get Ahead - January

Simple January activities for Primary aged children is a great resource for the month with ideas of simple activities to do with kids aged 4-10.

These fun seasonal activities are simple to do with children of primary age and easily adapted to suit specific age groups. I have tried to keep it simple and low prep.
