2026: A new year, a fresh chapter to dream, learn, and grow brighter than ever. 🌟

Welcome 2026

January 2025

Do you jump into the new year with resolutions and positivity or quietly creep in with gentle steps?

I am a throwback to the academic year and a gentle January person! We joke that I am all about hibernating! I go gently into the darkest month of the year, thanks to my seasonal adjustive disorder, plus as the wife of an accountant in the throes of tax season. I have developed tools to help me through what feels like the longest month, as well as the darkest!

  • I leave up the Christmas Tree and fairy lights until January 6th (12th night) and even then I leave up most of the fairy lights and enjoy them through January and February.
  • Meal Plan - The husbeast is busy through January and I have learned that meal planning takes the weight off me, plus it also means we eat well - this is even more of a challenge as I will never be able to eat solid food again.
  • Make plansβ€”I make sure I have things to look forward to. I have already planned a spa day with one of my besties and a sewing day, too.
  • Get outside - no matter the weather, getting outside helps. I must admit I miss Alvin terribly, as there was no better incentive to get outside than him. I think er may be at the point of thinking about a new pet.

I was gifted How to Winter: Harnessing Your Mindset to Thrive In Cold, Dark or Difficult Times by Kari Leibowitz and have devoured it. It is a brilliant read. A book backed by science on how to change your winter mindset. This isn’t a book about buying your way through the season but rather a toolkit and advice for making practical changes.

So I am looking positively into 2026 This is going to be my YES year, after a 2025 filled with health challenges.
